  • San Diego Comics megathread

With SDCC starting up, I thought it would be nice to have a place to discuss the news and announcements. Like this one, about Gail Simone taking over the Lion Forge superhero line...

Or this, about the Wonder Woman/Justice League Dark crossover.

Although I wonder, is it really a crossover if a team book crosses over with the solo series of one of its members? Or is it just a JLD story that's spilling into the pages of Wonder Woman?

Then there's this -- DC has tweaked the title of a mid-80s sci-fi series and made it part of the Kirbyverse.

It's been rumored for a while, but now it's official -- Grant Morrison will be writing The Green Lantern late this year.

I'd say it counts as a crossover, despite looking like a JLD story spilling over.

THANKFULLY it's not an EVENT with an EVENT mini-series and then 6-issue arcs in each other title that "crosses over."

I feel like I barely remember what it's like FOR a crossover to primarily consist of "just" issues of already-ongoing series.

I especially like the idea of such a crossover speeding things up--maybe it's "more issues" than I'd usually buy, but if it ends up *functionally* being weekly, it keeps momentum going without overextending.

Couple pieces of TMNT stuff that caught my eye:

A 5-issue series following the Shredder in Hell - https://www.bleedingcool.com/2018/07...ntolouco-2019/

and Sophie Campbell will be doing a special Leonardo issue, as IDW ramps up toward the 100th issue of the ongoing title - https://www.bleedingcool.com/2018/07...ssue-idw-tmnt/

Well, it does have two bookend issues, in addition to two issues of Wonder Woman and one of JLD. It's essentially a weekly event story. But I agree, it's fairly small, and I appreciate that too.

I guess it is technically a crossover, but it's a good bet that many people are already getting both if they are a fan of one...

I'm honestly surprised it has taken this long. The Go-Bots are coming back.

Boo? I mean, really... give us a new episode. A comic does not scratch that itch in the slightest!
